Evento Makes Paying and Getting Paid in Bitcoin Easy AF

2/17/2025

Bitcoin’s been in the mix at Evento for a while now, but we’ve leveled up. The payment flow is now so smooth it feels like magic. From RSVP to paying the host, it’s all about speed, ease, and making sure you can focus on the fun stuff—your event.

What Even Is Bitcoin?

Let’s keep it simple. Bitcoin is like digital cash. It works anywhere, anytime, and you don’t need a bank or middleman to use it. It’s decentralized, which means no single person or company is in charge—the system runs on its own, powered by a bunch of super powerful computers.

The Lightning Network makes Bitcoin even better. Think of it as Bitcoin’s fast lane: payments happen in seconds and cost almost nothing. With Lightning addresses—like an email address for money—sending Bitcoin is super intuitive. For example, "satoshi@evento.so" is all someone needs to send you funds.

If you’re new to Bitcoin, here are some wallet options to get you started:

  • ZBD: Simple and beginner-friendly. You can even earn bitcoin in their app!
  • Strike: Perfect for first-timers with an easy interface.
  • Wallet of Satoshi: Works globally and is incredibly intuitive.

Why Use Bitcoin for Events?

Bitcoin cuts out the hassle of traditional payments, and here’s why it’s perfect for events:

⚡️ Fast AF payments: Done in seconds. No more waiting for funds to clear.

🤑  Super low fees: Bitcoin Lightning fees are under 1% which means you get more of what’s yours.

🌍 Go global: Perfect for international events—Bitcoin works everywhere.

🤝 Direct payouts: No third parties—it’s just guest to host.

💅 Ridiculously easy: Lightning addresses make it simple, even if it’s your first time.

How Bitcoin Works on Evento

We’ve streamlined the process so it’s quick and easy for everyone:

  1. Hosts add their Lightning Address: Hosts add the cost of their event and their Bitcoin Lightning address under "Payments" when creating their event.
  2. Guests RSVP and pay: When RSVPing, guests can pay by scanning a QR code with their preferred Lightning wallet. They confirm their payment right on Evento.
    • Note: Payments happen outside of Evento, and we currently can’t automatically verify them. Guests must affirm that they’ve completed the payment during their RSVP. They also add a note to their payment, helping the host confirm it’s been received. When we release ticketing, you’ll be able to pay directly within Evento, which will automatically assign a ticket to your RSVP. This will make things easier for both hosts and guests.
  3. Get paid and keep 100% : Payments go directly to the host’s wallet. Here’s the best part—Evento doesn’t take a cut. Not a single satoshi. You keep 100% of your earnings.

Add Wavlake Songs to Your Event

We’re huge fans of Wavlake and everything they stand for—value-for-value music streaming powered by Bitcoin. With Evento, you can embed a Wavlake song directly into your event page, setting the perfect vibe and showcasing artists who are pioneering this exciting space.

Here’s how to embed a Wavlake song into your event page:

  1. Create your event: Start with the basics—add your event details.
  2. Add your song: Drop the Wavlake link into the Playlist section.

Show the vibe: Guests can hit play and feel the vibe.
